Carbon Compounds and Cells
This resource will help students reinforce learned knowledge about carbon compounds. Students will show their knowledge on sugars, starches, proteins, and nucleic acids with the sorting activity included. While studying carbon compounds students will use critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they explore how different molecules interact, how they are used by organisms, and how changes in these molecules can affect living systems.
Includes:
- Defining the four major carbon compounds
- Sorting sugar, starch, protein, and nucleic acids
- True or false? about carbon compounds
- Carbon compounds and cells multiple choice answers
- "A day in the life of a carbon atom" writing activity
With the writing activity students will explore the concept of carbon-based life forms by writing a creative narrative from the perspective of a carbon atom as it travels through different organisms and environments.
