This book is written for the same audience as the rest of this series: working metallurgists and mineral process engineers, graduate engineers building their first design portfolio, plant technicians who need to understand why equipment was sized the way it was, and EPCM professionals scoping front-end systems at feasibility or detailed design stage. No prior exposure to bulk solids handling theory is assumed — Chapter 2 builds the necessary foundation in particle and flow behaviour from first principles — but the book moves quickly into real design calculations, and stays there.

A companion Excel workbook accompanies this volume, with sizing tabs that mirror the calculation sequence in Chapters 5 through 22, and a consolidated troubleshooting reference drawn from Chapters 15 and 25. Readers are encouraged to use it not merely as a record of this book’s case study, but as a working tool — change the throughput, the bulk density, or the ore type, and the entire chain of calculations updates accordingly.
