She never knew their name. But standing there in their silence, she'll never be the same.

She pulled off on the side of a road she'd never been down and found an old barn weathered gray by a hundred winters, bowed beneath the weight of years — and someone's whole life happened there. If These Walls Could Talk is a quiet, contemplative meditation on the anonymous lives written into the Wyoming landscape, the families who planted roots and the stories only the walls remember. She never knew their names. But she carried every question with her when she pulled back onto that highway. Original by Saddle Storms.

Lyrics:

[Verse 1] I pulled off on the side of a road I'd never been down Saw an old barn standing barely, on the edge of broken ground Weathered gray by a hundred winters, bowed beneath the weight of years Someone's whole life happened here

[Verse 2] Did a family sit down to supper when the harvest finally came Did a mother count her children safe and warm against the rain Did a father walk these fields at dawn and feel like he belonged Before whatever went so wrong

[Chorus] If these walls could talk what would they say Would they tell me of the hardships and the price they had to pay Would I hear the sound of children laughing in the loft above Would it be a story of survival or a story about love A life lived well or one that just couldn't last God I'd give anything to step back in that past

[Bridge — quiet, restrained, almost spoken, intimate] I never knew these people Never knew their name But standing here in their silence I'll never be the same

[Final Verse] I pulled back on that highway Left it standing in my rearview mirror there But I carried all those questions with me Like I owed it to whoever built that place out there
