From Grant to McKinley: Political History in the Gilded Age

This set of four lectures examines the political history of the Gilded Age. It explores the presidencies of many of America’s least commonly known executives including Rutherford Hayes, Chester Arthur, James Garfield, and Benjamin Harrison as well as history altering political episodes such as post-civil war reconstruction, the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, the rise of the Populists, and the Spanish American War. This is an era packed with important developments but routinely passed over in standard histories of the United States.
