Tasuke Ga Nai: Rise of the Yamibito (Book 1)

Uchi was once a quiet village. But when a mysterious darkness begins spreading through its streets, ordinary people become something far more terrifying – Yamibito, infected beings consumed by a force no one understands.

At the center of the chaos is Takamasa Masaru, a 65-year-old warrior known simply as “Old Man.” Guided by visions and the ancient power of his Yokai Spirit, Takamasa races toward Shimiho High School – where a group of students may be the last hope for the future.

Inside the school, students are trapped. They have no idea why they were chosen, why they are being hunted, or what connection they have to the darkness spreading across the world.

As the infection grows and the line between good and evil begins to disappear, the students will be forced to discover truths, such as being chosen, which they never knew existed.

But being chosen comes with a price.

The darkness is searching for them.

And if they cannot learn to stand together, Uchi may not be the only place that falls.

Their journey has begun.
