Seeing Differently: An Embodied, Relational Approach to Neuroaffirming Therapy
On-demand CPD training + participant pack
About this training
Most of us were trained to look for what wasn't working. We learned to see through a lens we didn't even know we were wearing.
Seeing Differently is a CPD training for therapists working with neurodivergent adults. It asks us to slow down, look again and consider how the assumptions embedded in our training - about engagement, progress and what "good therapy" looks like - may be quietly missing, or even harming the clients in front of us.
This isn't a training that will hand you a checklist or a set of techniques to apply on Monday morning. What's on offer here is something harder to teach and, I believe, more important: a shift in stance, in attunement and in the way you hold yourself in the room with a neurodivergent client.
Not a way of doing. A way of being.
Most neurodivergent people who've had difficult experiences in therapy weren't let down by careless therapists. They were let down by a lens that misread and often misunderstood their neurology.
This training is an invitation to change that.

What you'll explore
Part 1 - What are we really talking about? The foundational reframe: neurodivergence as difference, not deficit. We look at the neuronormative lens and how it shows up in everyday clinical work as well as three key experiences every therapist working with ND adults needs to understand - masking, autistic burnout and monotropism.
Part 2 - Where misreading lives in practice Three detailed clinical vignettes - Kieran, Paula, and Marcus - with guided reflection questions that invite you to notice your own instincts and assumptions in the room.
Part 3 - A philosophy, not a checklist
Why some widely used modalities can fall short with ND clients. Five core postures of neuroaffirming practice - orientations that sit beneath technique. We'll also consider the danger of "Neurodiversity-Lite" and the intersection of trauma-informed and neuroaffirming practice.
Part 4 - The therapeutic relationship reimagined Concrete shifts to consider across the whole arc of therapy - as well as a shift in power dynamics and what can become possible in Neuroaffirming therapy.
Who this training is for...
This training is for qualified and trainee therapists, counsellors and psychotherapists who want to work more ethically and effectively with neurodivergent adults.
It's particularly relevant if you:
- Are already working with ND clients and want to deepen your practice.
- Are trauma-informed but wondering what you might still be missing.
- Have often sensed something isn't quite landing in the room.
- Want to examine your own assumptions honestly, in a non-judgmental space.
No prior specialist knowledge of neurodivergence is required - only a willingness to look again.
By the end of this training you will have...
- A clear understanding of the neurodiversity paradigm and what it actually means for clinical practice.
- Insight into how the neuronormative lens operates in everyday therapeutic work and how to begin recognising it in yourself.
- A working knowledge of masking, autistic burnout and monotropism and why each matters for outcomes.
- Awareness of how common therapeutic approaches can inadvertently cause harm with ND clients.
- Five postures of Neuroaffirming practice to carry with you.
- Practical, immediate shifts to consider across assessment, contracting and the therapeutic process.
- 16 clinical self-reflection questions to support ongoing honest practice.
- A reflective anchor to carry forward: one concrete thing that has shifted in how you understand yourself in the room.
This training has just been released June 2026 and is yours to start today.
