Steve Roberts, a 22-year-old alcoholic, befriends a demonic spirit, (the dancing spirit). She deceives him into believing that she could take away all of the pressures and problems that fill his life. Each time he meets with her, he gives her more and more control over him. It reaches to the point where he has very little to no control over his judgments or the direction of his own life. When Steve faces the greatest problem of his life, the dancing spirit withholds her magic and leads him to being homeless on one of the coldest nights in Brooklyn, New York. As Steve sits on the park bench, trying to make sense of all of the suffering that he has experienced, the situation that he finds himself in at that moment, and whether or not his existence really has a purpose, God is working behind the scenes to take his battered life, and homeless condition and turn it into something beautiful. There is one problem that complicates God’s work, and that is the dancing spirit. She refuses to give up control over Steve, hence, creating a violent battle over Steve’s soul. Furthermore, God does something very strange, for He chooses to use short-tempered, fearful, and perfectionist, Pastor Matthew Day, to help Steve fight the dancing spirit. At the same time, God teaches Matthew what it truly means to “love your neighbor.” Can love prevail over the powers of darkness? Will Steve Roberts truly be set free, especially when the winner and looser depends on one major choice that Steve has to make?
