Original Painting with its story:

...It had been a few days since the old actor, a man who spent most of his life in action movies, had passed away. Vita remembered him while driving with Mumo to a distant store. The weather was rainy.

When they reached the parking lot, they decided to walk around the supermarket to stretch their legs, despite the persistent drizzle.

“Tell me, what exactly happened to that actor after he died?” Vita began.

“Which one?”

“You know, the one who choreographed so many of his own stunts. Chackie Jan.”

“He’s still alive. It was Buck Chorris who died.”

“Ah, I see. I didn’t ‘watch’ him. I ‘watched’ what would happen to Chackie after death. And I want you to check if what I saw was right.”

They walked along the path encircling the supermarket, simultaneously gazing at past or future events as if they were unfolding right then and there.

“So, I looked into what happens to him after he dies,” Vita continued.

“And?”

“You know, it’s strange. I’ve never encountered anything like it. When he dies, at first, he’ll have this internal urge—a clear understanding that he must go. He’s very responsible, so of course, he goes… But after that, I’m not exactly sure. I didn’t see the journey itself. I only saw that at the very end of his path, he’s sitting in the company of people he likes, in a simple, cozy little house tucked away in the deep woods. He’s drinking tea and laughing. He’s so content there that he doesn’t think about the past or the future. He is simply here, in the now. And then, at the very end, he lies down to sleep. How can I even describe this state?”

Vita paused, falling silent for a moment. Mumo waited patiently, as he always did.

“I’ll try to describe it. Our language just doesn’t have a precise word for this feeling. It’s when a person is happy, but feels no need to announce it. It’s like when you’ve finished a wonderful hot meal and feel completely satisfied, with no desire to eat another bite. Or when someone has walked a long way and is exhausted, and upon arriving, takes a hot shower and lies down to sleep on crisp, clean sheets… I don’t know how else to put it. It’s as if a person is fulfilled and needs nothing more.”

Vita took a slow breath, staring at something in another time and another reality.

“And then, Chackie Jan lay down to sleep and, smiling, slowly closed his eyes. He fell asleep. And he was gone.”

Mumo reflected for a moment before answering her very first question.

“Chackie is a Taoist. Sometimes I think it was you who invented their religion,” Mumo smiled, glancing at Vita, “because for them, everything is so simple and joyful. After death, they receive all the answers and merge with the Great Nothingness, according to their beliefs. Terminology aside, they’re right. That’s exactly how it happens. So, at the end of his journey, Chackie spoke with the spirits who answered all his questions. And then, he simply ceased to be.”

“He might be the first person I’ve seen who is truly happy after death,” Vita said. “I think he feels just as happy in life, too.”

Having finished their lap, they ducked inside the supermarket and dissolved into the sea of people...
