Relief shot through me at knowing I’d successfully contained the demon.

The mist slowly cleared to reveal a red creature that looked as imposing and well-built as if he’d been sculpted by Michelangelo himself. He towered over me by a good three feet. A potent mix of fear and desire burst through my chest as I dragged my gaze along every defined ridge of hard muscle on his chest and torso, as I raked my eyes over his broad shoulders, chiseled cheekbones, and dangerously pointed horns. Every edge looked like it’d been sharpened with an ax.

“You summoned me, little one?” His voice was so low and husky, it felt like it resonated from the depths of hell, making the ground beneath my feet rumble. I fell back against the computer desk, petrified. His voice wasn’t even loud, yet it bombarded me from all directions, even seemed at some point to resonate from within me. It was hard to think straight and separate reality from the magical spell he seemed to be casting on me.

“There is no spell. It’s just part of the aura of a sex demon.” I gasped as my gaze snapped to meet his. He watched me silently, his head tilted in that haunting devil-may-care way of his. Could he read my mind?

He raised an eyebrow as if to ask me whether we were really going to stick with such elementary questions. I flushed, embarrassment making me feel hot. He tilted his head towards the massive clock on the wall, reminding me that my time with him was limited.

“Um, right,” I stuttered, still amazed by the fact that I had managed to bring this demon to my university library. While I’d been planning this for a couple of weeks already, trying to make sure I had everything in order so that I wouldn’t mess up the summoning, that hadn’t prepared me for seeing a demon up close and personal.

“I need your help to make me…” I faltered, suddenly embarrassed. But why? This was a demon, for Christ’s sake—

“Don’t invoke his name in my presence,” the demon drawled, rolling his eyes. “Now you’re just being rude.”
