PATTERNist turns held chords into rhythmic MIDI patterns. Following many requests, the Pattern Generator built into CHORDimist 2 is now available as its own independent MIDI effect.

Hold a chord, choose a pattern and let your favourite instrument play it. PATTERNist maps the pattern from the lowest held note upward, keeping each note's input velocity and MIDI channel. Change the chord to hear the same pattern with a new voicing, or add more notes to bring additional pattern rows into play.

Choose from seven generation models - clav, komo, solomon, pako, bach, kav and pepo - or use any for a mixture. Press Generate for a fresh bank, then explore the 32 patterns in the gallery. The large preview shows the selected pattern, its length and the moving playhead, with active notes highlighted and unused rows dimmed while you hold a chord.

Playback follows the host tempo in fixed 4/4 bars and starts from the beginning when you play the first note of a new chord. Keep notes held to loop; release all notes to stop. Save your DAW project or a host preset to keep the generated bank and selected pattern.

Use it for repeating piano figures, rhythmic chord textures, plucked synth parts and quick accompaniment ideas. PATTERNist works independently of CHORDimist 2 and needs a separate instrument to produce sound.

AMXD requires Ableton Live with Max for Live. VST3 and CLAP require a host that can route MIDI output from a plug-in to an instrument.

This release contains MIDI effects only; no instrument version or standalone application is included. PATTERNist uses your held notes rather than generating chords. Pattern rows beyond the number of held notes remain silent. Playback is triggered by MIDI notes and is not locked to the DAW song position or time signature.
