The Beagle Origin & History

The Beagle is an ancient breed with roots tracing back to Roman times, though the modern Beagle as we know it developed in England during the 19th century. Originally bred as scent hounds, Beagles were primarily used for hunting small game such as rabbits and hares. Their strong sense of smell and exceptional tracking ability made them a favorite among hunters.
