Difficulty
Medium to advanced. Two files are available, one with the pattern written out completely with no charts and one with charts only. Work from the one you prefer.

Yarn
Plump light fingering to heavy fingering, sport weight or even DK weight recommended. Something that shows cables well and will hold a blocking. Here was used a heavy fingering two ply merino/angora blend with 350m/100g. Shawl as shown used 135 g or 473 m (517yards). The size is adjustable, so if you want to make it larger or smaller, you can. The yardage needed will depend on your desired size and needle size and tension.

Construction
The shawl is worked from one corner to the other, first increasing, then decreasing. You will have very few stitches to cast on in the beginning and the bind off is worked in stages.

Beads
Optional. Use size 6/0 seed beads, 4 mm square or triangle beads, or the size you think fits your yarn. For the size shown and if you bead all the marked stitches, you will need 285 beads. This number will depend on how many leaves you knit, so it is not set in stone.

Size
As shown 23.5 inches (60 cm) deep and 79 inches (170 cm) wide.

Needles and hooks
US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle or the size you need to get a fabric you like. Crochet hook in the same size for the cast on (long tail cast on can be used instead of the crochet cast on). Crochet hook can also be used for the bind off.

Other notions
Stitch markers to mark repeats if you wish. Small crochet hook or other gizmo for placing beads (if using beads). Darning needle.
