OUROBOROS (1 copy left)
Ouroboros.
Many of you will probably be familiarised with the figure. An ancient symbol of a snake eating its own tail.
For some it represents the perfect balance, eternity, the cycle of life. In my case, I've always been more attracted to shadow archetypes, so with the ouroboros I like to look at the parts where it could represent: narcissism, self-destruction, entrapment, stagnation, self-absorption. In many of the poses within the album the figure is positioned with the face opposite the viewer, hiding it, or plainly backwards. Ashamed, as if it was unbearable to be looked at. It also contains several poses of suffering/depletion of hope.
The last photos I shot (with the red fabric) have a different perspective, and for me, the fullness of the symbol. They were shot in the sunrise, and I thought introducing red for this could be interesting. In my understanding, the cycle is complete when we come arising from all the tortuous path our unconscious and unuseful learnt behaviours took us through, and we are able to integrate our shadow. In a way, you could say it is a regeneration. Death of what is no longer true can become nourishment to a more integrated and genuine self.
Well, I could, in fact, talk about this for hours.
