In the third book in the series Eleanor publishes her diary of 50 odd years from when she was an inquisitive nine year old, to the highly respected London guide of today. We go through her student days, first job, as correspondent in Prague and East Germany, her personal loves and losses, finishing up with her retirement in Italy.

• Steven does it again. Creating a credible character than one can only love and respect.
• There some moments of Eleanor's introspection that are moving and sad.
• Now that she is retired, will there be any more Eleanor. I hope so.
