Into Freedom's Furnace: The America Revolution, Part One
This 4-lecture set explores the American Revolution from its origins in the aftermath of the French and Indian War to the central turning point of the conflict when France joined the colonists against their British overlords. The main focus here will be on the political and economic dimensions of the story with special focus on figures such as Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John and Sam Adams, and the various changes of heart and mind they (and many average colonists) went through between 1763 and 1778. Part Two of this series will focus primarily on the military dimensions of the conflict.
