More than just colour charts, this te reo resource will help your learners move from identifying colours, to using describing sentences.
This is a collection of AWESOME te reo Māori colour activities.
“Colours” or Ngā tae are always taught but often kaiako are not aware of a way to extend learning.
This resource was made to break the cycle of teaching colour names ONLY and progress to sentences as per the curriculum.
Progression:
1. Learning names for colours in te reo.
2. Writing and reading the colours in te reo.
3. Through a waiata learning to ask colour questions.
4. Replying to a question.
5. Reading descriptive sentences.
With this simple sentence structure ākonga can then go on to describe other physical characteristics.
Achievement Objective
2.5 communicate about physical characteristics
Through a variety of common objects and a catchy waiata learners will extend their knowledge of kupu and learn a formulaic sentence structure.
