Roman roads or roads formed a network of roads that spanned the entire Roman Empire.

Originally, the network was designed to maintain effective control of the areas incorporated into the empire, but they quickly acquired economic importance as they facilitated trade and communications. The development of the Roman road network occurred at the same time as the growth of the empire. The so-called Itinerary of Antonín is the most complete ancient document for the study of Roman roads, and dates from the end of the 3rd century.

Location: Caldes de Malavella, Catalonia, Southern Europe.
