HUMANist (VST3, CLAP, AUv2, M4L)

HUMANist recreates the human voice with physical modelling. Nothing is sampled. Every singer is a carefully built model of a real person's voice: vocal folds, throat, mouth, nose, tongue and lips, all simulated as you play.

Real voices, built from people

The voice starts where a real voice starts, at the vocal folds, and travels through a throat and mouth that move as you sing. Breath, rasp and vibrato come from the model itself, so every note is slightly alive and never repeats exactly.

Each singer is made from a face and a body. A longer neck, a wider jaw, fuller lips or a bigger nose change the voice the way they would in a real person, and children, men and women of every age sound like themselves. Eight singing styles, from Classical and Gospel to Pop, Folk and Korean Pansori, change how each singer uses their voice.

A choir of up to 64 singers

Play Choir, where each note goes to the next singer, or Tutti, where one key sings the whole choir, each person in their own octave. Solo plays one person alone, with smooth legato if you like. Every singer breathes, drifts and sways a little on their own, like a real choir.

The singers stand on a stage in a modelled room, from a cathedral to a dry studio, and you hear them through a pair of microphones. Move the singers, move the microphones, or roll the dice and the sound of the room follows.

Vowels you can play

Slide between vowels on the vowel chart, or let the vowel move by itself: smooth waves, envelopes, steps, a path you draw, or a new random vowel on every note. The faces on screen sing with the same mouths that make the sound. Watch just the lips, a light 2D face, or the full 3D face.

Incredibly fun - and much more than I expected!

This is coming from someone who has minimal music production experience, a fulltime videographer, and came across the plugin on instagram.

I had zero issue setting up the plugin, following documentation, and experimenting with different ready made presets for my voices. I used VST3 on FL Studio, Windows.

I found it super fun to play around with the singer count, chords and the room properties if I wanted my choir to be more dramatic. Plugged in some basic chord progression and was blown away with the realism. Especially the visuals of the mouths moving.

All in all, I found HUMANist super intuitive as a music newbie looking to make backing tracks for my videography. Would recommend to anyone in a similar position!
