T-72AV

The T-72AV is a Soviet-era upgrade of the T-72 main battle tank, distinguished by the addition of explosive reactive armor (ERA), often known as “Kontakt-1.” This extra armor significantly improves protection against anti-tank weapons, especially shaped charges. Armed with a 125mm smoothbore gun and equipped with an autoloader, the T-72AV maintains a relatively low profile and a three-man crew. Though not as advanced as modern Western tanks, it remains widely used due to its simplicity, mobility, and ability to be upgraded for contemporary combat environments.
