Taiwanese Artillery Uniform Set
During the Nationalist (Kuomintang) era, artillery uniforms distinguished themselves from other branches through specific insignia, shoulder boards, and unit markings that denoted artillery specialization. The uniforms were designed for functionality in various terrains, from the mountainous regions of mainland China to the coastal areas of Taiwan, with considerations for both combat effectiveness and military tradition. Materials and design changed over time, reflecting the technological and geopolitical shifts of the 20th century, from the warlord period through the Chinese Civil War and the subsequent retreat to Taiwan. By the mid-20th century, ROC artillery uniforms increasingly adopted more modern, American-influenced designs, particularly after significant US military aid and cooperation during the Cold War period.
