A Visual Journey Along the Pacific Coast

I was invited to Ecuador to lead a travel photography course for a small group of photography students. My role was to mentor them while documenting the experience from behind the scenes. For eight days, we traveled by bus from Guayaquil up the Pacific coast. But what stayed with me wasn't the assignment. It was everything in between.

The way equatorial light wrapped around a building in late afternoon.

The stillness before the ocean shifted color.

The faces that carried both strength and softness at the same time.

In the quiet margins of each day, I photographed what moved me. Not what was expected, not what was staged, but what felt honest. This isn't polished travel imagery. It's what happens when a photographer becomes a quiet observer inside of a new place...watching, waiting, listening, and paying attention.

For years, these photographs sat on a hard drive. Forgotten. When I rediscovered them, I realized they held a complete story, one that deserved to exist as a book.
