Meet Harold Muldoon, the time-traveling detective.

He was a private investigator, the best at what he did. He solved his cases 100% of the time. Hindsight is, after all, 20/20 and the BackTracker device allowed him to change the past. But in the process, his trips through time have unraveled the universe, stretching, tearing the fabric of space-time and sending his own mind into oblivion. He can no longer distinguish between true and false memories. He no longer knows who he was.

When a mysterious assassin is sent into the past to erase Muldoon and restore the timeline, the present is forever changed. Muldoon vanishes without a trace. Yet divergent realities continue to spiral out of control. And in one of them, Muldoon is still alive.

Now his wife Irena is desperately trying to find him. So is Gavin Lennox, power-hungry owner of The Pearl, the hottest night spot in all of NewCity. Eccentric inventor Cyrus Horton and his synthetic creations have also joined in the search. But the only thing they have in common is a willingness to do whatever it takes to get what they want: the BackTracker.
