There was a time when my husband, Chris, and I lived in his 1979 Lincoln Town Car. We were young, uncertain about what came next, and starting with very little.

We couldn’t have imagined the life ahead: marriage, raising two sons, my professional career, Chris’s years in the Marine Corps, businesses we built together, costly mistakes, and a family sod farm that taught us as much about perseverance as it did about hard work.

Some years brought opportunities. Other years, our goal was simply to get to next year.

We Built Our Own Table is my personal memoir about commitment, family, resilience, and the lessons Chris and I learned while creating a life on our own terms. It isn’t a story about getting everything right. It’s about continuing to show up, learning from what didn’t work, and choosing each other through it all.
