Blended Triangles
This block/patch is different from many other patches, as the patch starts with RECTANGLES, and ends up SQUARE. There are five triangles, but no triangles are cut! This patch is part of many quilt blocks. To top it off, TWO patches are made while sewing one! If you prefer, paper pieced designs are included for 4”, 5” and 6” finished blocks.
To make this scrap quilt, two different 5" blocks are utilized, the Design Block and an optional Background Block, for breathing space.
The Design Block lends itself to a myriad of settings. More or fewer Design Blocks and Background Blocks may be needed depending on the setting. Some settings can be made without Background Blocks.
As a scrap quilt, it is hard to give the exact amount of fabric that is actually required. The yardage listed is for 144 design blocks made with two fabrics, a medium, and a light fabric. In brackets are the amounts needed to make just two blocks. Use these amounts to judge how much you will need of many different fabrics to make it scrappy or to make the quilt larger.
