Short Vowel Reading Comprehension Passages and Questions All in one Set
Looking for no prep reading? This is an All-in-One Short Vowel( A, E I, O U) reading comprehension activity that offers students in First grade or kindergarten an opportunity to practice their phonics, fluency in reading, and understanding passages. These worksheets require NO PREP AT ALL! This is also an excellent option for emergent readers as well.
Sometimes it is so hard to keep kids engaged/motivated during their reading time or reading assignments, so I designed these worksheet specifically with this issue in mind. I created visual graphic aids for each of my sentences to help the kids feel related to what they are reading (**which I have learned it also helps develop their creativity skills and their imagination as well**). The feedback I received with the graphic aids was very positive. Kids feel encouraged to ask more question and become more involved in what they are reading because the visual graphic aids help draw them into the story. Many kids like to color the pictures after they were done with the reading because they felt connected and proud of what they had done.
The first section of our worksheet will help the kids practice their basic short vowels. Each of our passages in the stories are short/precise and accompanied by cute characters to help maintain the kid’s attention and engagement.
** I keep each passage on point with the picture to help tell the story of each sentence because I have noticed that my kids are tired of reading long stories with only 1 picture on the page to relate to**
The second part are basic multiple choice questions to help you see the kids’ skills of comprehension of the passage they have read. This section will help you identify whether your kids have any trouble with understanding of the stories.
For the third part, I know how important it is for my kids to feel a sense of accomplishment so in this part of the activity I set up a fun, quick, and easy matching activity to bring a completion to the worksheets.
This activity is absolutely spot on even for kids that struggle with reading or maintaining their attention during reading time.
As a teacher I know we have limited amounts of time in our schedules but we want to provide the kids with the best material we could offer. When I created these worksheets I used my experiences teaching the little ones along with trying to think like they do and put myself in their shoes of what will help them, get them involved and feel engaged while reading.
There are 5 stories for each of the short vowels (Except short E we created 7 stories). In this bundle you will receive 27 NO PREP stories along with answer sheets.
