Critical Reading Strategies

Modeled after my own teaching practices, this is designed for any teachers wishing to engage their students in meaningful pre-reading activities that promote critical reading and thinking. These activities are aimed at activating and building students' background knowledge, creating interest and curiosity in reading material, and enhancing reading comprehension and critical discussion. Each activity is briefly described and contains a step-by-step outline as well as a graphic organizer for students' use. The activities are suitable for all proficiency levels and are particularly effective for EFL/ESL students in middle school, high school, and pre-university settings.
