The Inspiration
The red fox is one of only 40 or so land mammal species found on Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and is a common sight in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The name for this design evolved from the clever lace pattern that begins this shawl ~ it reminded me of those adorable little fox faces! The three complementary cable and lace patterns that form this shawl elegantly morph from face to ‘body’ and ‘tail’.

Whether knit as the widest shawl, a narrow scarf or one of the three between sizes, this design will wrap you in soft luxury. The pattern model shows the 23” / 58.5cm wide shawl.

FoxxyLady is a rectangular shawl or scarf knit in two sections from the ends toward the middle; the remaining live stitches are either grafted (Kitchener stitch) or joined using a 3-Needle Bind Off. Written directions and a picture tutorial for grafting are included, as is a video link; a picture tutorial is included for the 3-Needle Bind Off. The points at the short ends are created by the pattern stitch and are defined during blocking.
