• Instructions to cut the paper template from a 75cm x 50cm piece of standard tissue paper or paper of your choice. Simply by taking a few measurements and making some folds and cuts, you can create your own template to work from

Sizing:

This template will fit AU 8-12 but instructions are included for how to size it up and down. Detailed measurements are given so you have the proportions and can modify to suit your measurements.

Fabric:

This slip is beginner friendly and can be made with almost any fabric, my preference is always for natural materials such as linen and cotton, from sheer to heavy, which will require seams to close raw edges.

The original vintage slip this template was based on was made with sheer fabric and trim which doesn't fray but it is delicate to work with and requires a finer needle and thread and some experience working with sheer fabric.

You will need:

1.5m x75cm of fabric (minimum) for a short smock in size shown

5m trim

1.6m ribbon

Customise it your way:

This template allows you to design the slip with any materials you have or choose. You could make a patchwork of fabric and ribbons as straps, add ruffles or contrast binding instead of trim, leave off the decorative trim and make a simple smock. The options are endless.
