Moments with Jesus QAL and Devotional Journey

The Devotional Journey

The Bible tells so many stories of people who spent time with Jesus; some spent years traveling with Him and listening to Him teach, while others were with Him only long enough to be healed or to have a single conversation.

During the Moments with Jesus devotional journey, you'll receive 40 daily devotions considering what their moments with Him then can teach us today. We'll look at well known stories, like Peter denying he knew Jesus, the woman at the well, and Pilate, along with lesser known stories like the rich young ruler and the townspeople who asked Jesus to leave after He drove out demons.

These people lived lives vastly different from ours, but in many ways they were just like us. They struggled with fear, judgement, illness or disability, sin, and more. Some wanted to believe, but didn't. Some wanted to move closer to God, but didn't know how. All spoke to Jesus in the flesh, and their stories were written down and preserved for us.

Together, we'll spend time each day with these stories to move closer to Jesus as we see reflections of our own actions, attitudes, or beliefs. Some days we'll see we're on the right track, while on other days we'll be challenged to acknowledge things that should change. Through them all, we'll be reminded of the love He has for us, the very love that led Him to leave heaven to walk this earth on the path to the cross.

The daily devotions will arrive in your inbox each Monday to Saturday from February 14 (Ash Wednesday) until March 30 (the Saturday before Easter Sunday). They include all the relevant Bible text, so you won't need to open another app or have your Bible handy.

The These Three Quilt

Along with the daily devotions, we're going to make a beautiful quilt together! These Three is appropriate for confident beginners (and up!), and uses a mix of techniques - machine piecing, paper piecing, and fusible machine applique. If you've never done paper piecing or machine applique, this is a great time to learn, as I have videos to walk you through both techniques.

After you register, you'll receive an email with the fabric requirements and the cutting instructions. The cutting instructions show clearly which cuts are needed for which blocks, so you can decide if you want to cut everything ahead of time or wait and cut for each set of blocks as you go.

This is a relaxed QAL, with time allotted at the end for catch up (because life always happens!) and for the final quilt top assembly.

I've been sharing weekly devotions since I started my blog, Devoted Quilter, in 2013. I love connecting the Bible with snippets of everyday life in ways that help us understand how relevant the Bible is to our lives. My brain makes odd connections between biblical themes and things like rhythmic gymnasts competing at the Olympics, or my annual trek into the woods to go blueberry picking. The little kids I look after have also inspired many devotions.

I've been a quilter since 1997 and a quilt pattern designer since 2015. I love everything about the quilt making process, except basting, and would happily spend all day in my sewing room!
