This was supposed to be my first Mars mission.

A clean flight. A proud moment. A few “historic” photos for the feed and a neat little line in the logbook.

Then I landed… and saw something I wasn’t supposed to see.

It wasn’t on the maps. It wasn’t in the briefings. And it sure as hell wasn’t in the official mission plan.

One second I’m breathing recycled air, watching dust dance across the visor… the next I’m staring at a truth so wrong my body reacts before my brain can catch up—heart hammering, throat burning, the kind of scream you don’t choose.

That’s what this self-portrait captures: the exact instant the mission stops being science and becomes a secret.

The grit on my helmet, the panic in my eyes, the violence of the debris—everything says the same thing:

I found it. And now it knows I’m here.

If you want a Samantha piece that feels like a cliffhanger you can hang on your wall—cinematic, tense, and just a little dangerous—this is the one.
