Professional resume guide from an industry product manager

Crafting a compelling resume is an art, not a science.

Reflecting on my journey, I had the privilege of taking a Personal Career Development course in college. I was also among the handful of students who frequented the Career Center on campus with college career advisors. Their investment helped demystify what was foreign to me as a first-generation student.

Back then, I barely knew what hiring managers were, let alone what they wanted to know about me.

Fast forward to today, having reviewed hundreds of resumes, the tips I once found bewildering are now standard. However, I’m reminded that what feels routine to me is shaped by the guidance I'm grateful to have received over the years and I feel compelled to share what was once generously shared with me.
