Haldir is a unisex, versatile mitt pattern featuring a trendy stranded colourwork motif. It is part of
the Haldir collection, which features a hat, cowl and pair of fingerless mitts. The name of the pattern comes from a character from the Lord of the Rings: Haldir of Lothlórien.
There are 2 sizes available: Medium (54 stitches) and Large (62 stitches) to fit a hand circumference of about 7 (8) inches or 18 (20.5) cm
The pattern is worked at a gauge of 32 stitches and 40 rows = 10 cm in stranded stockinette.
You’ll need approximately 60 grams of fingering weight sock yarn in 2 contrasting colours: 40 grams of MC and 20 grams of CC.
Yarn used in sample is Tukuwool Fingering (75% Finnsheep and 25% Texelin, 213 yards or 195 meters per 50 grams) in colourways Raku (MC) and Uupo (CC). Kits are available
in my webshop.
Other materials required are needles for working small circumferences in the round (gauge size needles and needles that are 1 size smaller), at least 3 stitch markers, and a tapestry needle.
This pattern contains 5 pages. Basic instructions are 3 pages and then there are 2 pages for charts.
