When the Drawing Reached Back
There are moments when creating stops feeling like imagination and begins to feel strangely real.
In this piece, I wanted to capture that fragile boundary between the world I live in and the worlds I create. On one side, there is me — flesh, emotion, uncertainty. On the other, a man who exists only in lines, shadows and graphite… yet somehow he reaches back.
The touch between us is the heart of the image. It represents that strange connection an artist can develop with a character: someone born entirely from your own mind who, after enough time, starts to feel as if he has thoughts, memories and a life of his own.
Perhaps I created him.
Perhaps I imagined the way he would look at me.
But in this moment, with our hands locked together across the boundary between reality and art, I like to imagine something impossible:
What if one of my creations could reach through the page… and choose me too?
