Pining for You: Fallen Leaves, Filthy Promises
Evie –
I wasn’t supposed to stay.
A quick escape, a weekend in the woods, and then back to the life I’ve spent years pretending to love.
But he was there. All flannel and firelight, looking at me like I wasn’t too much.
Like I was exactly enough.
Now I’m tangled in something I don’t have a name for.
And the scariest part?
I don’t want to run anymore.
Jack –
She says it’s just for the weekend.
That she’s not staying.
But from the second she steps out of that car, haunted eyes, bare legs, oversized hoodie, I know better.
She’s not passing through.
She’s mine.
She just hasn’t figured that out yet.
And I’ll give her every reason to stay. Even if I have to burn down the forest to keep her.
