5 STARS!!!

What a story! I thoroughly enjoyed Pocketful of Hope, as I have all the books I have read by this talented Indie author! In this story I felt very strong emotions for the characters of Caitlyn and Hannah. I worried about them, I was sad for them, I had hope for them....and it is a special book that can take the reader on such an emotional journey. The story was interesting and creative (I really liked the life simulation game), but at the same time addressed some very serious issues in a non-judgmental manner. I would definitely recommend this book to all readers!

different characters

Well, this was definitely an interesting and different and unique story. I really debated about reading it, cause I wasn’t really sure how it would go from the blurb. I read a few reviews and I decided to try it since I’ve liked all of the other stuff I’ve read by this author. It was weird reading a virtual world and then the real world. For most of it I felt like the real world was kind of at odds and weirdly thrown in, whereas the virtual one felt like reality and it was the story that I was invested in. However, it all came together wonderfully at the end.

Pocketful of Hope

Follows Caitlyn as she struggles with depression after her boyfriend commits suicide, and to spread it onto a character in a life simulation game - Hannah. They both struggle with loss and grief - Caitlyn's boyfriend and Hannah's parents (death/leaving her). The big difference between the two of them is that Hannah has hope. They face a lot of parallels - they're two young girls who have fallen in love and faced a lot of loss and grief, and in the end they're broken girls trying to find hope in the end.
It was definitely an interesting and unique take. I don't think I've read anything like this. I was definitely interested, but it was a little slow. It was definitely a lot heavier than I thought it would be. I went into this one pretty blind so I didn't know what it was about. It touches on family, first loves, depression and death. It has lots of layers to it - to the characters, feelings, and their stories. It was definitely interesting to see the POVs from Caitlyn and Hannah.

Depression

The story has importance in the storyline, but I did feel like teens and young adults might get a little confused. That being said,, follow Caitlyn as she deals with her feelings at a young age.
