This easy crochet Christmas tree pattern makes a charming little 3D tree for small spaces — a desk, a shelf, a mantel, or a windowsill. Grandma's Christmas Tree is worked flat in rows as a long band, then wrapped around a foam cone and closed up, so there's no shaping in the round and no fiddly assembly.

This design is close to my heart. It's based on a tree my grandmother used to make, and I've simplified the original and added a few touches of my own. The sample is finished with a delicate gold border, a scattering of glass beads, and a sparkly crochet star on top — but you can skip the gold and the beads entirely and let a pretty variegated or solid yarn do the work instead.

Finished at 9 1/2" tall, it's just the right size to tuck into a corner that needs a little Christmas.
