 As a music business identity, Bruce Johnston has had a varied and somewhat convoluted career, his joining the Beach Boys in 1965 more or less being a stabilising force.

 Although his initial tenure with the group only lasted for six years, he was to return to the lineup permanently in 1978 and has remained more or less in situ ever since.

 However, this book is not about Bruce Johnston the “Beach Boy”, but Bruce Johnston the individual and his musical exploits from when he first embarked on a musical path, to when he first joined the Beach Boys in April 1965, give or take a few years.

 Although a long-standing member of the Beach Boys for some seven decades, a lot of Johnston’s exploits have been shrouded in mystery, miss-information and myth and it is hoped that this book will shed some light on the less-documented.
