CHRISTMAS IS COMING | Saddle Storms | Pure Western Album
Two houses. One tank of gas. Santa got the credit. They got the Visa bill and the wrapping paper.

Christmas Is Coming is the holiday survival anthem nobody put in the carol book — two families, two scheduling conflicts, one turkey versus ham debate that has been running since the first year and will run until somebody surrenders or goes vegetarian. Santa walked away with all the glory. They walked away with assembly required until two in the morning and a pile of destroyed packaging by noon. The beach gets threatened every December 26th. The car gets loaded every December anyway. That's marriage. That's Christmas. That's the deal. - Original by Saddle Storms.

[Verse 1]
It starts about the middle of November
When somebody mentions whose house first
We've had this conversation since we married
And somehow every year it gets worse
Your mama wants the whole gang there by Tuesday
My mama wants us Christmas Eve by three
And somewhere in between those two appointments
There ain't a single minute just for me
[Pre-Chorus]
We smile and load the car and check the list twice
And pray that this year everybody plays nice
[Chorus]
Christmas is coming whether we like it or not
Two houses two schedules one tank of gas
Santa gets the credit for the second mortgage
And the wrapping paper cleanup never lasts
Turkey at your mama's ham at mine
Nobody wins that argument and nobody tries
Christmas is coming whether we like it or not
Lord let us survive it one more time
[Verse 2]
The toys cost more than our first car payment
Assembly required till about two am
By noon on Christmas day they're held together
With a prayer and a rubber band and then
The paper's piled up to the living room ceiling
Nobody's moving toward the trash bags yet
We're all just sitting in the wreckage smiling
Pretending this is everything we dreamed we'd get
[Pre-Chorus]
Santa walked away with all the glory
We walked away with the Visa bill and the story
[Chorus]
Christmas is coming whether we like it or not
Two houses two schedules one tank of gas
Santa gets the credit for the second mortgage
And the wrapping paper cleanup never lasts
Turkey at your mama's ham at mine
Nobody wins that argument and nobody tries
Christmas is coming whether we like it or not
Lord let us survive it one more time
[Bridge — soft, just the two of them]
You know what I want for Christmas this year
Just you and me somewhere warm and clear
No scheduling conflicts no whose house is right
No assembly required at two in the night
No turkey no ham no wrapping paper trail
Just a beach and a drink and no holiday mail
I'm booking it next year I mean it this time
Just us baby
Just us
[Spoken — back to reality]
We said that last year
And the year before that
Your mama already called
Mine did too
See you in the car
[Final Chorus]
Christmas is coming whether we like it or not
Two houses two schedules one tank of gas
Santa gets the credit for the second mortgage
And the wrapping paper cleanup never lasts
Turkey at your mama's ham at mine
Nobody wins that argument and Lord knows nobody tries
Christmas is coming whether we like it or not
Same time next year
Heaven help us
One more time
[Outro]
Same time next year...
I'm booking that beach I mean it...
Your mama already called...
Mine did too...
Merry Christmas baby...
