Infinite: Academy Vol.4
The simulation began. Zelden's Banshee unit, a tiny speck against the vast desert, sped towards the eastern flank of the fortress. He deployed the EMP, a silent, invisible wave that rippled through the enemy's systems. On the holographic map, the eastern defenses flickered, their comms icons turning red.
"EMP deployed! Go, Danny, go!" Zelden yelled.
Danny's Thunderbolt, leading a squadron of heavily armed fighters, roared across the desert, barely skimming the dunes. The fortress's ground defenses, temporarily disoriented, began to fire wildly, missing their marks. The Viper air superiority fighters, alerted to the incursion, scrambled, their sleek forms slicing through the sky.
"They're taking the bait!" Danny's voice was jubilant. "Five Viper units on my tail! I'm leading them west!"
Kaidance, her Harrier nestled deep within the winding canyons, watched her radar. The Viper units, confident in their speed and numbers, pursued Danny relentlessly. She could hear the crackle of their comms, their pilots gloating about their easy prey.
"Almost there, Danny," Kaidance murmured, her hands flexing on the controls. Her scout mecha units, cloaked and silent, were positioned strategically along the canyon walls, their anti-air missile launchers armed and ready.
Danny's Thunderbolt burst into the canyon network, making a sharp turn. The Viper fighters, following close behind, were suddenly trapped. The canyon walls rose steeply on either side, limiting their maneuverability.
"Now!" Kaidance's command was sharp, decisive.
Her Harrier erupted from its hiding place, cannons blazing. The scout mechas, uncloaking, unleashed a volley of missiles. The Viper fighters, caught completely off guard, had no time to react. The narrow confines of the canyon became a deathtrap. Explosions ripped through the air, debris raining down.
"Four down!" Zelden cheered, watching the carnage unfold on his displays. "One trying to escape!"
"Not on my watch!" Kaidance's Harrier pursued the lone survivor, her skill and precision overwhelming the desperate Viper pilot. A final burst of laser fire, and the last Viper jet exploded.
"Air superiority achieved!" Kaidance announced, her voice calm despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins. "Zelden, Danny, regroup. Let's finish this."
With Viper neutralized and the fortress's air defenses crippled, the final assault was swift and decisive. Danny's Thunderbolt led the charge, his railguns tearing through the weakened ground defenses. Zelden's Banshee provided critical targeting data, identifying vulnerable points in the fortress's shields. Kaidance, her Harrier now flying high cover, picked off any remaining air units and provided precision fire support.
