Etsy gives every listing thirteen tags, ten photographs and a hundred and forty

characters of title. Most shops use a fraction of that, and nothing in Shop

Manager ever tells you which of yours do.

This reads the listings file Etsy already gives you and says which listings are

leaving room unused, worst first. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is

uploaded, because the file contains no network code at all — the build that

produced it refuses to write the file if any is ever added.

✳️ WHAT IT CHECKS

• TITLE LENGTH — Etsy allows 140 characters. A title using 40 of them is

  competing for a fraction of the searches it could.

• TITLE OPENING — the first words carry the most weight, and "Beautiful" is

  not something anyone searches for.

• TAG COUNT — thirteen are free. Every one you leave empty is a search you are

  not entered into.

• TAG SHAPE — one word competes with every shop on Etsy; a phrase competes

  with the few who sell what you sell. A one-word tag naming the product

  itself is fine, and is not counted against you.

• PHOTOGRAPH COUNT — ten are allowed and Etsy's own guidance asks for five.

• DESCRIPTION LENGTH — a buyer choosing between two listings reads the one

  that answers their question.

• MATERIALS — a free field Etsy indexes and most shops leave empty.

• PRICE ENDINGS — reported, never scored. Your pricing is your business.

⚠️ WHAT IT DELIBERATELY DOES NOT CHECK — Etsy will not save a title over 140

characters or a tag over 20, so a live listing cannot break either. A check

that can never fire is not a check, and this tool does not pad its score with

them.

⚠️ That export is ACTIVE listings only. Drafts, expired and sold-out listings

are not in it, so the count will not match Shop Manager. For an audit that is

the right set: it is what buyers can actually see.

✍️ HOW THIS WAS MADE

The checks live in one file, and the same file is what the page runs and what

the test suite tests — so the tool and its tests cannot drift apart.

It was run against a real 491-listing shop before release, and that run changed

it. Three checks were firing on nearly every listing: Etsy's export joins the

words of a tag with underscores, so a test for "is this one word" called every

tag on Etsy a single word; the materials column comes back empty for every

listing whether or not a shop has set any; and titles beginning "The" were being

told off for a word that was part of the product's name. All three are fixed,

and the score on that shop moved from 57% to 81% — most of the original figure

was the tool being wrong.

The build refuses to write the file if any network primitive appears anywhere

inside it — fetch, XMLHttpRequest, sendBeacon, WebSocket, a remote script,

stylesheet or image. The offline claim is enforced when the file is made, not

promised in this description.

Nothing in it is a purchased template or a stock component. It contains no

images at all.
