Take Your Makeup from Day to Night

Hi Chérie,

These days everybody’s stretched for time and rushing from one place to next. Few of us have the luxury of going home after work or between meetings to glam up. So, what’s a working woman to do who wants to look her best but short on time? Ladies the key is taking your makeup from day to night.

The best advice any Makeup Artist including myself will give you is to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Follow these simple steps and transition your look from a day at the office to an after-work event or night out on the town:

Layer and Set:

While I’m a big fan of wipes, rarely do I have time to wipe a full face off and redo my makeup during the day. For daytime, a single eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara is all you need. For evening sizzle, tweak your application and add a dash of sparkly color. If you’re a Beauty Aficionado and I know many of you guys are, try layering! Mastering the art of layering your shadows is a HUGE timesaver if you really want to step it up from work to an evening out. Simply layer matte shadows on top, as they blend easier than the shimmer shadows and add depth. Caution: Layering on too many shades of shimmer eyeshadow can make your eye look too messy, whereas matte shadows blend easily, and you’re look appears clean!

TIP: Line your lower lids, then layer on a rich bronze shadow, starting at the lash-line and working toward the outer corner.

Stack and Go: Your Lashes

Your Lashes: If you work in a Mall or in the Beauty Industry wearing 3D Lashes are fun, however, if you work in more conservative environment like an office, not so much. Just as you layer your eyeshadows to take your look from day to night, you can do the same with your lashes by stacking. Add extra volume mascara to your natural lashes or add a set of strip lashes (falsies). Our Haven Lash is a daytime lash that’s perfect for the office; but with a little mascara this lash screams NEXT LEVEL at night. If you wanna jazz it up even more, and a second pair of strip lashes on top of the first, you’ll love the look and so will he.

TIP: Apply a lengthening mascara on your lower lashes, too. Brush a contour powder under your cheekbones and out toward your hairline, then add a bronzer to the highpoints of your face.

Your Pout: Your Lips

Lipstick: Without a doubt the best texture lipstick to take your look from day to night are Mattes. Many of clients hate matte because they’re so drying but mattes stay in place and won’t bleed. Add a liner (even the cheap one’s work) and you can change your look. Lip color these days are such an accessory, the lips can be bold or nude and still make a statement. As workplace attire is now more Business Casual have fun with you lippies just remember to use a non-waxy lip moisturizer to avoid chapping.

TIP:   Rid your pout of dead chapped skin. The night before while prepping for bed, exfoliate your them.
