When Little Red Riding Hood went to visit her grandmother she was in for a big surprise. She was expecting to find her dear old granny all tucked up and in need of some tender loving care. But not to be…

This little vest captures the essence of the Little Red’s surprise and resulting questions. Look closely at the cable and with a bit of imagination, you may just see those big eyes and perhaps even those big teeth, that so puzzled Little Red. Knit top down, beginning with saddle shoulders, it is a modern version of what Granny may perhaps knit. Baby sizes feature a tab shoulder to make it easier to dress baby.

Construction:

What Big Eyes You Have! uses a saddle shoulder construction. Cute little rectangles that serve as saddles are knit first. Stitches are then picked up along the saddles to form the front and back of the vest. The front and back are knit separately until joining for the body under the arms. The back of the shoulders are shaped subtly using short row shaping. Lastly the neckline and armholes are created by picking up stitches.

Cable is both charted and in written form.
