No place for learning – Universities and the changing face of education (2017)
I felt the increasing need to highlight the greed, double standards and hypocrisy which is the modern university, despite genuine academics and staff doing their best with real pay cuts, attacks on their job security, way of life and ability to maintain their position. When Universities become business’s or institutions of greed they cease to be a school of learning and the truth isn’t found within and it’s a parody of its original purpose of truth in diversity and working together for the benefit of conveying knowledge, learning and respect for life.

The following are a list of articles from the socialist paper Morning star which is the only such publication in the UK which I’ve related to highlight the changing face of ‘modern education’. I have been involved in higher education since 2005 when I joined the Open University and have since then dealt with dozens of universities (public and private) in addition to education bodies (DoH, DoE, DoB, DWP), councils, governments(Welsh, Scottish, Irish and English) and international bodies (EU,US,CA,NZ,AUS)  relating to STEM partnerships. As a freelance researcher, writer and designer I was able to maintain a level of independence while studying and working with these bodies in addition to involvement with strike action (UCU, Unison, Unite) and maintain links with teaching bodies and watchdogs (NUT, Student unions and Office of the Independent Adjudicator).

Before the articles I have left a favourite section from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s the Celebration of Intellect which I believe still resonates with educators today.

No place for inspiring – 2019 update

This is a follow-up collection of my correspondence and conversations on campus and in connection to the ‘business of education’ this country continues to adopt towards its students, staff and educators. I would like to report that the general consensus is positive with a resolve to improve standards and support for all those mentioned, unfortunately it has continued with the same deliberate destruction of the testaments of true educational support to inspire the next generation.

Personal interests again do not perform well in the pursuit and deployment of truth.
