Partner Pullover Pack- Knitting Pattern

The Partner pullover pack is a modular pullover pattern designed to give you everything you need to design your own perfect partner for the cold season! It’s got voluminous looking sleeves that still fit into my jackets (!!!) and perfect fit! It’s worked bottom-up, knitting the sleeve and body sections individually in the round, and then joining them to work the yoke in the round.

I want the Partner to feel perfect for you no matter what your body shape, so I’ve included 2 views: one with no hip shaping (Straight View) that mimics a more traditional ‘menswear fit’ when made long, which also includes instructions to make a cute crop for any body shape; and one with hip shaping (Hip Shaping View) that is designed to create more room in the hips for those of us who have a more bottom heavy shape! At the chest, there are also optional short rows which can be added to either view to accommodate breasts. There are also 2 neck shaping options - a classic folded neckband and a turtleneck. All these options should mean this pullover will sit super cosy and comfy on anyone who wears it!

Designed for people who are new to colourwork, Partner uses simple pattern repeats, only ever 2 colours at a time. Three colourwork patterns are provided that all revolve around a simple 3x3 structure - you can choose to follow your favourite, or mix and match! Instructions are provided for using two colours, but this could definitely be an awesome scrap-busting project. If you choose to use your own colourwork, it may change yardage.

Choosing a Size:

Choose the size that most closely matches your upper chest measurement: Sizes 1 2, 3, 4, 7) 8, 9, 10 11 will fit upper chest measurements of 67.5 77.5, 85.75, 93.7510, 118.25) 126.25, 134.5, 142.5 147.5cm / 27 31, 34.25, 37.54, 47.25) 50.5, 53.75, 57 59in. The garment is intended to fit with around 7.5cm / 3in positive ease at the bust, however if you are between sizes I would recommend sizing up.

To measure your upper chest/bust measurement, place a tape measure around your body underneath your armpits at an angle and keeping arms relaxed at your sides.

Choosing Shaping:

To choose which view you will work, you should consider your own body shape. If you are relatively straight up and down or smaller in the hips than in the chest, you should work the Straight View, but if your hips are larger than your chest, you should work the Hip Shaping View or pick the Straight View but finish at a Cropped Length.

If you have very large breasts, and often feel the front of your garments are shorter than the back, there is also the option to work short row shaping over your chest to add 5cm / 2in length at the front only.

You will also be able to choose between a folded collar and a turtleneck. This will be totally based on your preference of style; both should be fine for any body shape.

Yarn:

Spectrum Fibre DK (100% superwash Merino, 230m / 252yds per 115g) in colourways ‘Little Blue Dress’ (C1) and ‘Summer Bloom’ (C2)

Yardage:

Your yardage will differ depending on your shaping decisions. You can use the tables shown in photo gallery to help you determine how much overall yardage you require. Add the yardages together for your preferences for Step 1, 2 and 3 to get your total yardage requirements for C1 and C2. Be aware that meters are shown on the left and yards on the right.

Gauge:

19 sts and 23 rounds per 10cm / 4in in colourwork chart in the round using 5mm / US 8 needle. See Colourwork Patterns pullout box for some swatching tips.

Needles:

• Ribbing Needle - 3.75mm / US 5 in your preferred lengths for small and large circumferences (I used 32in / 80cm for large circumferences, and 12in / 30cm for small circumferences)
• Main Needle - 5mm / US 8 or size needed to obtain gauge in your preferred lengths for small and large circumferences (I used 32in / 80cm for large circumferences, and 12in / 30cm for small circumferences)
• Turtleneck Needle - 4mm / US 6 in your preferred length for small circumferences (I used 12in / 30cm)

Supplies Needed:

• Tapestry needle
• Stitch holders or waste yarn
• 8 stitch markers, including 1 unique marker for BOR (can be made from a loop of waste yarn)
• 1 removable stitch marker
• Optional (for Crochet Reinforcement at Neck): 4.5mm / US 7 crochet hook
