Compilation of Phrases and Wacky Examples
Why Did I Write This?
I understand the struggle parents and students face with their attempts to improve at the Comprehension Cloze section.
In my 11 years of tutoring the English Language to students, I have observed how frustrated parents and students feel because they were unable to improve at Comprehension Cloze.
While much of the advice given focuses on making students read more, the actual thinking process for Comprehension Cloze questions is a combination of a reading habit and a writing habit. Students these days read very little; they write even less.
This compilation of phrases is where they can start this combination of reading and writing. The phrases in this compilation are all found in the Comprehension Cloze sections of the past PSLE English Language papers from 2019-2015.
By singling out the phrases, underlining the answers, providing an explanation and an interesting example for each of them, I hope that students will begin including them in their day-to-day writing and even use them for their composition.
I sincerely hope this helps your child increase their marks for Comprehension Cloze section.
