The Moraliste of Bhaktapur is a short story from Fear and Loathing in Kathmandu series. Goloman and Dalli, two university students discuss Nepali morality and fatalism against the mystic background of Bhaktpaur Durbar Square.
"A festival chariot lay on the north wall of Bhairav temple, disassembled. Children were playing dhikichyau on the evenly shaped wooden shafts. The broad faced temple stood proudly against the sky with green moss traversed across all three tiered roofs. Suddenly an old woman with a hunched back approached the shrine, timidly daubed vermillion on the disembodied brass figure of Bhairav and touched her tiny head on the shrine, like absorbing onto herself some of his powers. She then picked an azalea petal and put it on her head like a token of his benevolence and completing her ritual; she gently caressed one of the brass lion guarding the façade and rang the temple bell three times".
