The sleek beanie style Fluxy is the perfect project to complement the other projects within the Flux family. For Fluxy, the Mondim yarn is held double, resulting in a larger scale wave pattern compared to the Fluxus shawl and Fluxa cowl.
By keeping the shaping and brim as clean and uncluttered as possible, this scrumptious wave pattern is taking center stage. Opt for high-contract colors for a dramatic statement, or tone it down with related colorways to complement any ensemble.

CONSTRUCTION

Fluxy is worked in the round, from the facing of the brim to the crown. You will start by casting on stitches for the inside facing of the brim, using your preferred provisional cast on. The facing is shaped by working German short rows. Once the facing is finished, the outside of the brim is knitted, again shaping it with short rows. When the facing and outside of the brim are identical in height, the stitches of the provisional cast on are knitted together with the brim stitches to secure the facing to the inside of the hat. The wave pattern on the body of the hat is achieved by working short rows, and the crown is shaped by decreases.

SIZE

One size
Finished measurements: a circumference of 52.5 cm / 20.75” and a height of 22 cm / 8.75”.
The hat is designed to have 2 – 6 cm / 0.75 – 2.25” of negative ease.

YARN

A fingering weight yarn (held double throughout the project) with good elasticity. Wool or wool blends are ideal.
For the wave pattern, numerous short rows are worked. Therefore, it is advisable to use a marled, speckled, tweedy or variegated yarn as your MC so that possible irregularities will be less noticeable.

MC approx 200 m / 220 yards, CC1 approx 110 m / 120 yards, CC2 approx 40 m / 44 yards.

For the sample the following yarn was used, holding it double throughout the project.
Retrosaria Mondim, 385 m / 421 yards per 100 gr. Colorways: MC (marled brown / natural) 400, CC1 (blue) 301 and CC2 (natural) 100.

If you prefer not to hold the yarn double, you can substitute it with a worsted weight yarn that results in given gauge.
