The work was commissioned by Music Fund Slovakia and was premiered by Enikö Ginzery at a composer portrait concert at BKA in Berlin on 19 June 2007.

Water Forgives was recorded by Enikö Ginzery for Machajdik's album ,Namah, released by Hudobny fond in 2008.

Peter Machajdík (born 1961) is a Slovak composer who has received critical acclaim for his chamber, orchestral and electronic music.
