The Unrestored Order: Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter and their Times
This set of 4 lectures will explore two of the most important transitional presidents in recent history, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. Despite representing different parties, there was much that was similar in their policies and governing styles. They were both committed moderates – at a time where political moderation itself was diminishing. They were also beset by events and ordeals that made governing increasingly complicated, events such as the end of Watergate and Vietnam, the Iran Hostage Crisis and rising tensions with the USSR as well as domestic crises involving staggering levels of inflation, unemployment and an energy crisis.
