This set of 4 lectures explores the volatile presidency of Richard Nixon, an administration that saw both extraordinary highs and unprecedented lows in US presidential history. We will examine his life and career, his years as a vice president, the election of 1960, as well as his time in office with its high points with détente, opening of relations with China and low points with the Pentagon Papers, conflict in the Middle East, and Vietnam War.
